How the GHS/NGN black market rate is calculated

Nigeria's informal FX market is anchored to the US dollar. To price GHS in naira, BDC operators take the USD/NGN parallel rate and apply the live GHS/USD global cross-rate. This rate updates every 30 minutes on AbokiFx.

Official CBN rate vs black market rate for GHS

The CBN publishes an official rate for GHS/NGN through the NAFEM window for regulated transactions. The black market rate is typically higher because official supply cannot meet demand. Today the gap between the two is approximately ₦5 per GHS.
