As of 19 Jun, 0:44 am WAT, BDC operators are buying CNY at ₦205.90 and selling at ₦208.62. The spread (the difference between buy and sell) is ₦2.72 per CNY. The official CBN rate for CNY/NGN is ₦200.64.

Chinese yuan to naira for importers

China is Nigeria's largest import source. Importers sourcing goods from Yiwu, Guangzhou, and Shanghai calculate costs in CNY. The yuan-to-naira rate here is derived from USD/NGN and CNY/USD cross-rates. Changes in US-China trade policy or CNY devaluation can shift this rate meaningfully even when the naira-dollar rate stays flat.

Official CBN rate vs black market rate for CNY

The CBN publishes an official rate for CNY/NGN through the NAFEM window for regulated transactions. The black market rate is typically higher because official supply cannot meet demand. Today the gap between the two is approximately ₦8 per CNY.
